    The 12 Commandments of Best Grade<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Read the directions before using.\u00a0 There is a copy of the directions on the CD or website.<\/li>\n
    2. Make sure that you have a definitive list of student names before entering them into the report cards.\u00a0 If you have a list of names, then change them, this will take a lot, lot longer and will create errors.\u00a0 If new students enter a class midway through the semester, add their names to the bottom of the lists and do not put your lists in alphabetical order.<\/li>\n
    3. Give Blank Teacher Pages to teachers.\u00a0 Once the student names are entered into BestGrade print the Blank Teacher Pages for every class.\u00a0 Then make enough photocopies of each so that each teacher can have one for each class that he or she teaches.\u00a0 Put the copies in the teacher\u2019s room or leave with the secretary.\u00a0 This will save a lot of time and confusion.<\/li>\n
    4. If you are creating electronic pages for teachers, do not create them until you have entered in a definitive list of students into your Best Grade file.\u00a0 Once professor pages are created new names cannot be entered into them.\u00a0 They must be deleted and remade.<\/li>\n
    5. Have a folder for each class.\u00a0 Store completed teacher grades sheets in the different folders.\u00a0 Do not give these back to teachers, even after grades have been entered.\u00a0 Do not lose!<\/li>\n
    6. Save a backup copy of your file at least once every two weeks.\u00a0 Save the backup copies in a folder that has a different name, marked with the date.\u00a0 Do not delete old backup copies.<\/li>\n
    7. Open only one BestGrade file at a time.\u00a0 If more files are open it takes a long time to autosave and is prone to errors.<\/li>\n
    8. If the power goes out while you\u2019re working a backup copy will likely be created.\u00a0 This file will be called, for example, \u201cCopy of BestGrade 2010\u201d.\u00a0 If the power comes back on and you open \u201cCopy of BestGrade 2010\u201d, enter data for a few hours, save, exit, and then the next time open \u201cBestGrade 2010\u201d, enter data for a few hours, save, exit, you will have a problem.<\/li>\n
    9. Enter in data into only one copy of BestGrade.\u00a0 Do not enter data into multiple copies.\u00a0 If you want two or more people to enter in data into the system at the same time, enter data in the created Professor pages and then copy and paste in the BestGrade file.<\/li>\n
    10. Do not print your report cards until you are sure that all information is correct. \u00a0If you are missing information do not print report cards!<\/li>\n
    11. Print out the Grade Summary for each class before printing out the report cards.\u00a0 Check the results with the sheets filled out by teachers to make sure that you have not made any data entry errors.\u00a0 This is very important!!!<\/li>\n
    12. Store a backup copy of your BestGrade file on a usb key or burn them onto a cd after the end of each semester.\u00a0 Make multiple backup copies.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Most often, files do not open due to viruses and the effects of power cuts.\u00a0 Close all other files except the one you want to open.\u00a0 Try reopening it.\u00a0 If you get an error message, try again after half a minute.\u00a0 If the file will not open after many attempts, copy it and try to open it on a different computer.\u00a0 If this does not work, use the file from the backup copy you created.\u00a0 If you have not created a backup file, you need to start over.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t

      Install Best Grade on the computer.\u00a0 In \u2018Classes and Admin\u2019 select \u2018Allow Password Protection for Subjects\u2019.\u00a0 Insert the information from the classes and students (name, birthdate, etc.) and add the subjects.\u00a0 Protect the sections.\u00a0 Let each teacher enter in their own grades during the course of the semester, and let the protect their subjects with a password.\u00a0 After the end of each week copy the file to a USB memory stick for safeguarding purposes.\u00a0 At the end of the semester, before printing the bulletins, print the Grade Summary and check if all the grades are properly entered.<\/p>\n

      If the teachers do no want to learn how to use Best Grade, give them the \u2018Blank Teacher Pages\u2019 and have someone enter their grades into the system contains Best Grade.\u00a0 Open the files and open Best Grade.\u00a0 Copy the information and paste it into Best Grade. At the end of the semester, before printing the bulletins, print the Releves des notes and check if all the grades are properly entered.<\/p>\n
